Recently bought a refurbished Compaq M700 with Windows 98SE. I would like to try out Knoppix or Mepis Linux which can be run from the CD-ROM. However, I am not sure if the M700 can be configured to boot from a CD. Has anyone tried this or can anyone offer any suggestions pertinant to running one of these applications on the M700?

I have just done the unthinkable and Read The Friendly Manual. Yes, you can boot from a CD (if you have an internal CD-ROM drive). The machine is relatively old, so any OS released after 2003 should have decent support for it.
