i am thinking of buying my friends computer, which is pretty good, and i was wondering if i could put a video card i already own in it. It has an ATI Radeon 8800 Pro, and i have a Nvidia GeForce FX 5500. Could i put them both in the computer and connect them, or do i have to choose?

You can put them both in,but you can only use one at a time, unless your configure them for DUAL MONITORS

To use two together, they have to be SLI/Crossfire cards/motherboards.HERE

you think they will ever make it so you can sli/crossfire to different models of video cards?

IMHO the Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 would be better but a better card would be a hole lot better if u are gaming. either one of those would be fine for surfing aor office work...
