My freind has a Acer Aspire 3680-2762. Max memory is 2 gb. I am getting two choices PC@-4200 PC 5300. will either one work? I take it the 5300 is 667mhz and the other ???? Is 5300 better?

PC-4200 is 533
PC-5300 is 667

Either will work, if the comp won't run at 667 it will just run the 5300 stuff at 533.

Thanks. One other item. Should I stay away from low dens and ECC? I know its
200 pin and do I really need the other things. I will try to match them so they work good toghther.

"ECC" (error correcting code) memory is normally only used in enterprise server applications. Consumer memory is "non-ECC". Obviously the motherboard manual would be the last word.
But, Newegg doesn't even show ECC memory in a 200 pin package.

Here's ECC Server DDR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=ecc+memory
