Let it boot back to the blank screen give it 3 or 4 minutes and if you do not get a desktop do a Ctrl Alt Del and see if Taskmgr comes up.

Do you think you can build this CD?

It boots a special windows called PE boots from the CD and not the HD and runs from a RAM drive. Has many repair options.
