Computer behaving strangely

Could be a hardware problem, unfortunately I am not sure.

Strange shutdowns, windows crashing, and unusual program behavior like flickering or behaving like I hit a key, when I didn't.

I did the GMER step, but when it was completed, the log was empty--I mean just completely blank.

Any help, advice, or additional steps would be appreciated.

If you take the time to read this, I say thanks in advance!

I think it would be more helpful for you to post this in the Windows OS forum. Here is part of what's going on:
==== Event Viewer Messages From Past Week ========

7/11/2010 5:03:29 PM, Error: Microsoft-Windows-DistributedCOM [10016] - The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {9BA05972-F6A8-11CF-A442-00A0C90A8F39} and APPID {9BA05972-F6A8-11CF-A442-00A0C90A8F39} to the user Regrets-PC\Regrets SID (S-1-5-21-1738308658-1967329773-1212657080-1000) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Someone there can read your dump file- I don't do that. and you have a permission issue that needs to be resolved.

If it is thought that you have malware after those issues have been resolved, then come back to this forum. Please tell them that I sent you. Copy my reply to the thread there.
