Computer does not recognise new graphics card

I have recently put in a second hand Nvidia GeForce 3 TI-200 AGP card. I tried installing the forceware drivers but it says there is no card installed. The card is an AGP 4X card and my motherboard is 8x. I don't know if this might be the problem. I am running XP. Any help would be much appreciated.

the card being a 4X AGP should not be a problem. what did you have for graphics to begin with? did you have another card or onboard graphics? if iit was onboard did you disable the onboard graphics? also if you downloaded the newest forceware drivers that could be a potential source of the problem the newest drivers are not really meant for older generation cards. if you know the maufacturer of the card go to their site and download the drivers they have for that card.
