Computer not working

Just registered to these boards wondering if anyone could help me.

When i turn my computer on the screen dosent go live and the onboard bios beeps high-low 3 times. This is after my computer crashed the other day and black and red dotted lines appeared on my screen. I turned the pc off and then cleaned the fans as i thought it may be over heating. When i tried to turn the computer back on all i got was what is written above.

Im not great with computers so wondering if someone could help me with this please.

shut down after windows

m running windows xp on a Asus P4 5800mx. its been 2 weeks now since my PC started shutting down after the welcome screen. At times it goes straight to setup and says it has corrected cpu speed to 3000rpm. All fans are working and have dusted out the mobo. There doesn't seem to be any sign of overheating. What could be the problem?
