Computer powers itself down...

  1. I have a HP Pavilion 6736 that will power itself off almost immediately after powering it on. In less than 5 seconds of powering up, it shuts off as if the power cord has been yanked out of the back of the unit. I installed a NEW power supply, but it did not make any difference. It still has the same problem. I have tried almost everything I can think of to isolate the problem, but this one has me stumped. Just wondering if anyone else has ever encountered this, and if so, what solution did they come up with ? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, as I am lost on this one.

    Thanks,

I got this computer repaired after messing with it for a day and a half. It was the power switch. It's back up and running now.
