This problem only started recently. My Asus a7n8x board refuses to shut off. Im running XP and whenever i shut it off it restarts. At first i thought it was the jumpers but i made shore the connections were all right. So what could it be? the only way i get it to shutdown is by pressing the off buttom for 4 secs.

    help me please

Well I found out why it does it

Ok well after formatting my hardrive and starting from scratch I reinstalled my windows XP.

Its my nvidia nforce2 drivers that came with the cd with the motherboard. I did some trials and errors and it is that.

So Im gonna go now without installing it. How important are those drivers?

Has anyone had a problem like this?

Seems like all the problems always happen to me. Gosh it must be my luck.

Well I finally got to the source of the problem. I looked at what the drivers did. So then I went disabeling one after the other restarting each time. Then I got to this device:

NVIDA nFORCE2 AGP Host to PCI Bridge

This is the one device that causes my system to restart instead of shutting down. What is it? How important is it? Can my computer be stable without it being enabled?

instead of loading the drivers from the disk download the latest drivers from asus for your mobo.
