Computer restarts when I try to burn dvd

Hi guys. I'm new to this forum. The reason I'm visiting is because I'm having difficulties burning a dvd.

It all started about a week ago when I was burning a backup of a dvd I own.
My laptop screen all of a sudden turned blue with an error message. Then my computer restarted. I reformatted my hard drive and installed all drivers. Then when I tried burning it actually worked.
It wouldn't last for long. Today I wanted to burn a family homevideo and I had the same problem all over again. I've tried to fix it now for hours. I have no clue why this is happening. My laptop is not overheating though.

Does anyone know?
What can I do about it?

I have a dv4000
Pentium m 1.86 ghz
1 gb ram
x700 128 mb
80 gb hard drive

first ,I think you don't have enough memory
but as you said it was working fine before
are you using diff disc's sometimes a diff brand will do this
have you lowered the burn rate see if that helps
check your event viewer under computer management
try increasing virtual memory
also defrag the same often can only do this with 3rd party utility app
how old is dvd burner

I think I fixed the problem. It was a virus or spyware that was causing the problem.
I ran ad aware and after that it has worked like a charm.
The laptop is only a few weeks old.
I doubt it is the memory because I already have one gb of ram.
Thanks man for helping out.:)
