i just bought this computer and it is acting weird. my friends have the same comp n theirs if fine, we told the guy to make it really fast so we can play the sims 2 and he did and the game worked really good and all of a sudden every game i had restarted before it loaded. The guy who looked at my computer make the sims open in a window instead of full screen so it started working again but i bought the new roller coaster tycoon game and its doin the same thing... i was wonderin if maybe i have a virus or something? i scanned it with many scanners n it didnt say i had anything, im going to post a hijackthis log because it seems that it is what others are doing, please help me cuz i really wanna play my games. also my video card is a radeon 9550, i updated a driver for it too.. and it is supposed to be good for the games i play.. so i dunno why it doesnt work, if u need any other information i will post it. Thank you.. Kristen

Welcome to TechSpot

Download and install the following 4 programs, each in their own permanent directory:
Spybot S&D http://www.safer-networking.org , let it "immunise" your PC, takes only a few seconds.
Adaware Personal SE http://www.lavasoftusa.com
HijackThis http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
CWshredder http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Before running any of the above, always make sure you have the latest program-versions,
and do an online-update in Adaware and Spybot for the latest definitions.

Reboot in Safe Mode (press F8 a few times upon booting).
If you have "BeginToSearch" etc. run CWShredder first and let it fix whatever it can.
If not, run Adaware, then Spybot. Let them each fix whatever they can.
Then reboot again in Safe Mode.

Now run Hijackthis with NO other programs open, but DON'T let it do anything yet.
Make sure you have read TomCoyote's instructions on HJT !!
Copy and paste the proper HJT report here in this thread. We may be able to help you further.

Also, your Windows XP is hopelessly outdated. You will need to install ServicePack 1 at least.
Then Let Windows do all its automatic updates.

its me again

i had a few of those programs.. all of a sudden my comp totally died on me, internet wise... my router would not give me a connection n i know it works fine, i had a friend come over and get rid of everything n he installed windows again.. a better windows xp, so now im back n running, he also made it so that all those virus/adware programs scan ever night to make sure nothing happens again, and also my computer would alway sget kicked off and when the router did work, it was always very low when i was online, now it is very good. My games are installed again and they all work. I am going to take care of this now. But thank you for the response! i just couldnt read it in time cuz i couldnt get online but its perfect now :grinthumb
