Computer Restarts

Hello I made a partition on my hard drive. I set it as primary. When I restarted my computer it would try to load up the desktop then boots. Please help.

Its a windows 2000 SP4 the mobo is a PCchips M810DLU(V7.5a) .
I got this computer from a friend who had every thing erased. The computer was left with only 5 gbs. When I looked at the hard drive inside it said 40gbs. So I went to managedisk drive and foun that 33gb was unallocated. I then made a partition it was now free space. I didnt know how to combine the 5gb with the 33gb so I made a primary format on the 33gb as NTFS.
