Computer running but hard drive not :s

Ok, I bought a new pc, I left it on for a hour or so on its own, its set to not go into sleep mode or anything like that, no low power state or anything etc. Anyway, when I came back it was still on as it should be, but nothing would respond, the mouse pointer would still move round the screen but nothing would work :s, and I also noticed that the hardrive light on the tower, that is normally blinking away was doing nothing, it was just off as though the hardrive had litterally stopped working? Anyway, I reebooted it by holding the power button down and booted it back up and I was ok. Any ideas?

It seems to be, I was concerned as the pc us only a week old. I left it on for 24 hours and it did not happen again. I'm thinking maybe the website I had left open in Google chrome may have caused the crash. So iv now started using ie incase. Hopefully it won't happen again
