Computer shuts off

Hello,

The computer turns off after a little bit of use. The power supply stays on, the power light is yellow and the monitor reports as if there is no signal. I felt the HDD and it is not spinning.

I cleaned all the dust off the main fan on the case which covered most of it, removed some off the heat sink. The power supply fan is working too.

I still need to get all this dust out of the PC. But I would think if it was low air flow, it would work with the case cover off and the shoot from the main fan to the CPU.

They said it was moving faster than before when I had the cover and shoot off.

This is the first time I have seen a PC turn off but the power supply stay on.

It is a HP desktop. If need be I can go get the model number if needed.

Thank you,
Eric Vogel

Sorry for the very delayed response. Did you get this fixed? If you still have dust use a can of compressed air no closer than six inches with short bursts. DO NOT turn the can upside down.
