Computer slow after dual boot is finished

  1. i have a dual boot set up on my acer apire laptop. 512 memory 1.8ghz athlon. i set up ubuntu linux and xp perfessional. 50gb for xp 9.5gb for linux and 512 linux swap space. that is how it is partitioned. but ever since i did this window xp is considerbly slower, slower programs booting slower everything. any ideas

    Try checking for spyware if you have been out on the internet first.

    the first partition is xp. how can that affect it?
