Computer stopped turning on...

Hi guys....

My dilemma started last night when I accidentally tripped on my headfone cable and as I went to plug it back in, my soundcard fell out of it's socket (unfortunatley wasn't screwed down =[).

Once I replaced the soundcard back into its socket, I then went to boot up my pc as usual and it turns on for approx 5-6 seconds then it turns itself off again.

I've checked all the cables to see if they're plugged in correctly and have even tried pulling them out and putting them back on just incase I missed something. However the pc still continues to turn on for a few seconds then turns off again....

If anyone could PLS help me, I will be very greatful... Thanks in advance =]

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

My guess is your sound card has shorted something, when it fell out. Probably the mobo, or it could be your soundcard is dead.

Unplug your computer from the mains. Disconnect anything not required to boot your computer.

Just leave the psu/mobo/cpu/1 stick of ram/hard drive/graphics card.

See if your computer attempts to boot.

Let us know what happens.

Didn't work.... sigh

I unplugged everything like u stated, and still does the same thing *sobs*...

Could it be the power supply?

Only way to find out if it`s the psu is to try another one.

However, I think it`s more likely your mobo, that`s fried.

Regards Howard :)
