Computer uses alot of memory

My system uses 50-60 % of its memory when sitting at idle. I see this in the task manager. Is this normal. I have no programs open exept for my OS which is w2k.

A lot depends on how much ram you have.

Have you checked for viruses/spyware etc?

There is a spyware/virus thing that pops up, more like flashes, at boot up.

Ok, go HERE and follow the instructions exactly.

Post a fresh HJT log into this thread, only after doing the above.

If, it turns out you do have a virus/spyware problem, I will move this thread to the appropriate forum.
