Computer will not allow backup

dell dimension E521 backup was full so deleted all but last three, thereafter computer has not allowed backup to be processed. plenty of storage 4.4G open no other changes made

need LOTS of information:

1) Which OS and SP level
2) which backup program
3) what is being backed up ( \Documents and Settings vs C:\ )?
4) where is the target media for the backup (different device?)
5) specifically quote the error message

2)just the weekly backup of persnal files & folders (pics/docs)
3)the computer came partioned w/"d" drive as "recovery"/backup
4)on partion of single harddrive as noted above (8 gig)
5)scheduled once weekly after hours of use "the last backup failed"

The D partition is from the manufacture and is NOT intended for your use! it is used only when or if you would need to recover the system to the day-1 state as you received your system.

For you, you need an external HD as the target of any backups you wish to create
