computer wont boot

  1. i have a problem my friends computer quit working.she took it to a repair shop they told her her hard drive was out i checked it out and when i tried to boot it would say no data. so i replaced the hard drive set the pins correctly i tried to boot. the green light on the front comes on the cpu fan runs but the monitor says no signal from computer.i replaced the video card no luck i did have the battery out for a few minutes when i replaced it. its a hp pavilion 513g with an upgrade to xp pro help please

    change boot source to cd 1st and boot from cd

    dude
    sounds like your motherboard may be dead!!
    can you open your cd rom ??
    even though the cpu fan is spining up
    it still maybe the motherboard!

    it wont boot far enough to use a cd

    are you able to access the bios on startup with F2 or the change boot at startup with F11

    no i cant even get the monitor rec a signal from computer

    found the problem

    thanks guys but i found the problem it was my cpu. those things must be pretty fragile.
