Computer Wont recognize HDD...

hey, ive recently built a pc

3.4ghz p4 800fsb hyper threading (64 bit compatible)
elitegroup 865pe-a7 mobo
kingston 4gb ddr-400 mem
nvidia ge-force 256mb agpx8 graphix
400w psu
320gb seagate barracuda SATA connector
etc

computer recognises sony dvd-rw drive which is ide connector

will i need a ide hdd?

You'll have to check your bios and have it set so it can see the SATA drive, perhaps its thinking its RAID right now?

Windows may possibly need drivers for the sata controller too.
 
you will need a real floppy drive or a CD rom with the correct SATA drivers to use a SATA drive.

I do not recommended mixing systems with IDE and SATA. Others will disagree with me.
 
good news...

the pc is now up and running and im on it now, it was in the bios and the sata setting had been disabled xx thanks for all the help
