Computer Won't Turn On

So about three weeks ago I was watching a movie on my computer and it crashed. It resarted and continued to run for a while but it crashed a second time and the second time I could smell what I thought to be burning popcorn and realized it was coming from the computer. Now I thought it was the power source since the power light on the computer would come on but nothing was turning on. I just installed a new power supply and tried to turn the computer on but all I got was the fans to spin for a second or two and after that nothing would happen. So basically I'm wondering if you think my processor fried or my motherboard? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to techspot!

It does sound like either a CPU or motherboard is toast. As a last resort, try the following:

1. Test some different ram in there.
2. Take everything out of your motherboard except, CPU/heatsink/fan, one stick of ram and your video card (unless you have integrated of course) and see if you can get into your bios.
3. Try resetting your CMOS.

Good luck!
