I am trying to access the internet from a Class A private network through a Linksys router...

Details

Server 10 dot 10 dot 1 dot 1 (DHCP server)
Clients 10 dot 0 dot 0 dot 3 -- ten dot 0 dot 0 dot 250
Subnet Mask 255 dot 0 dot 0 dot 0
Default gateway 10 dot 0 dot 0 dot 254

Linksys RV082 (DHCP turned off)
LAN IP to be 10 dot zero dot 0 dot 254
Subnet mask is 255 dot 255 dot 255 dot zero

What would I need to do to get the internet working from the clients?
I can ping all of the computers on the network from anywhere to anywhere else. But I cannot connect out.

Please give me some advise

Thank you

Have you set up the router to actually make the broadband connection? Check the connection status in the router setup.

Set the router's LAN subnet address to 255.0.0.0 just like the computers have or you will have trouble with the 10.10.1.1 machine.

How is the DNS and gateway set up on the computers?

More details

I cannot seem to change the settings for the subnet mask on the router from 255 dot 255 dot 255 dot 0 to anything else.

All the clients have automatic configuration checked in the internet options/connection tab.

Read the document - more details

Yes I have read the document. It talks of everything being on 192.168.1.xxx
Mine is 10.x.x.x

I have W2000 server running on the server and the subnet mask there is
255.0.0.0 and I am trying to figure where I can change that to be 255.255.255.0

I have an RV082 and the only changes I can make in there are among the following
255 . 255 . 255 . 0
.128
.192
.224
.240
.248
.252

If you really cannot put in any different subnet masks in the router then you have to make your network match that. You have to make all the machines have IP addresses to be 10.0.0.x, including the server.

If the 2k server acts as DHCP server then you have to make sure it gives the client computers the right DNS server and gateway addresses.

can the server access the internet, if not start there.
i agree with realblackstuff its MAC settings you should be able to change in router to match server setting
my server is set to 255 . 255 . 255 . 0 I edit with notepad in a config file
sorry I don't run W$K server I have had one in past uses GUI to set up system
can't remember the name of it it was a pain anyway.
apache is better and free
