Connection problems (please help)

    a friend of mine added something a while back in the system.ini somthing about IRQ9 and well,, i lent my computer to family and they reinstalled windows and now the computer has no internet and they tried removing that line and now when u try to open a page in netscape the message "Netscape was unable to create a network socket connection. There may be insufficient system resources or the network may be down."
    they have got alot of junk on the computer but i was kinda wondering what a smart guys oppinion would be :)

    Sounds like Winsock corruption to me. Socket errors are usually caused by Winsock or Winsock2 being corrupted. A fix can be found here:

    This file does the same thing as the Winsock fix registry hack, its just easier for less experienced users to apply.
