Console monitor hook-up

I was wondering how i could use my computer monitor to play xbox as an alternative to a tv. What components will i need? Will I lose/gain picture quality? How do I do it?

it depends on what connections your monitor has. the standard connector is the 15-pin Dsub, which to the best of my knowledge is not compatible with an xbox. chekc your monitor input options and your xbox video-out connectors, and state what you have.

Well, i was planning to do this with my new computer which has yet to be delivered, but the monitor i chose was a ViewSonic Q7B 17" TFT Active Matrix LCD Display Monitor. I was also wondering, just from reading random stuff, if it would be possible to use networking to hook it up to the monitor.
