  1. OK my computer had recently been restarting on me and it kept doing this but i just persisted with out trying to solve the problem.

and a few days ago it restarted and when i boot up i eventually get this error:

    "couldn t open drive multi 0 disk 0 rdisk 0 partition 1"

now i have tried new RAM which i was told by somebody on another forum, but this didnt solve the problem.

I have also formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows on a different computer and tested that was running fine (which it is) so i presume it is not a hard drive issue.

Extra info, i am running a Intel Dual Core ?3?ghz processor, 1 gb of ram, master 80gb ide, slave sata 200gb

Any help really grateful thank you!

Get speedfan and check put the S.M.A.R.T. characteristics of your hard drive.

Speedfan can be found in the downloads section here on TS.

Speedfan - download and run from
Set SMART in the BIOS: Speedfan will also run the SMART monitor for you.
Do you by any chance have a RAID array here?
