CPU 100% usage

I am not sure That I am posting this to the right thread but here it goes.. My computer as of late has decided it wants to jump to 100% usage alot.. It looks to be that the system idle process is the offender. It is constantly at 85 to 100%. IEXPLORE also jumps to 30% or so.

Whilst wandering about looking at hardware I noticed that "mother board is listed twice, I am somewhat comp. lit. But is this perhaps the problem.. I have the HJT log of which I shall post.. I am not sure what is going on but hate the freezing thing, though all i have to to do is CTRL ALT DEL and open the task manager to make the thing go back to normal and that is WITHOUT haveing to shut anything off from the the task manager.

Also when I am away from my computer it tends to rt click things while i am away ill come back and there will be a selection list sitting there as if i have rt clicked the desktop..

all virus scans say neg. and so do the spy ware ones..

Howdy!

Welcome to TechSpot

If I'm understanding you correctly,
an optimized system should run "system idle" +or-
90 to 100 cpu useage. This is the norm on my machines.
This means very few resource inuse in the background.
System idle is how task Mgr reports it.
I am not sure what is going on but hate the freezing thing,
We need more info on the freezing thing and your system details.
G'Luck

The Freezing is not actually freezing it is more like you cant click anything until you open the task manager and see the cpu usage drop to 2% or so under system idle. It does this even when useing the pc I dont know if that is normal or not. (system Idle Process).

You are right it is not actual freezing it is more like pauses where you cant do anything till the system slows down. even when youa re running just one thing or only have a window open as now i just had to do it to keep typing.

In anycase here is what i have as far as my system is concerned

Win xp home edition SP2

Intel Celeron CPU 2.60GHZ

2.59GHz, 512 or ram

I am not sure of what else you might need to know, sorry to be kinda vague

How long have you been runnin
this install of XP?
It almost sound like you may have some registry problems.
I use "TuneUp Utilities 2004" to optimize, defrag and fix reg prob's.
There are many such proggy's.
Maybe some of the other members can make a suggestion..

also, motherboard type will be helpful..
