CPU question

Hi everybody
I had a question about a problem I am having, I have an AMD 3500+, on a Bio-star main board. The problem I am having is heat related I think the cpu shuts down intermitently and when I reboot the Cpu runs at only half speed, it is not overclocked. Does anybody have any suggestions

Put some new, good quality thermal paste between the heatsink and cpu.

Make sure the heatsink and fan are free of dust.

Make sure your case is well ventilated.

Get everest home edition via google and that should help tell whats going on.

When was the last time you cleaned out the "dust bunnies" out of your case?
Get a can of compressed air and carefully clean-out your case (follow directions on the can). You could also check your fan/heatsink assembly to make sure everything is tight and secure and you still have thermal compound between the heatsink and cpu.
