    my system temp is around 32 C, but my CPU temp is approaching 65C. I'v got a P4 Prescott 3 GHz processor, will its life be cut short by this ridiculously high temperature?

    That tempurature is typical for Prescotts. My 2.8 would idle at 60-65 and run around 70 under load.

    Bug is right. Do you have the stock cooler? A larger one will help. I replaced mine with a Speeze cooler and temps dropped 10*F.
