Creative Audigy LS recording problem

I bought a new Audigy card and the line-in recording volume is set to 100% but playback still isn't loud enough. It's only about half as loud as my onboard sound set at 25%. Why is the new Audigy card recording at such low volume? I've disabled onboard sound and drivers but that had no affect. Is this a compatibility issue?

Dumb question - but do you have an on-board sound card as well?

I have onboard sound but I've disabled it in bios and I've also uninstalled the drivers. The Audigy is the only enabled sound card.
