Ctrl Alt Del not working + computer very very slow

Today my computer has died a thousand deaths.

I have done a Panda Virus scan and it found a worm which it destroyed, now I find myself with a slow computer with CTRL ALT DEL not functioning and also unable to access e-mails in my hotmail acocunt even though they are showing as available.

Programs are taking in excess of 60 seconds to open. An eternity in today's expectations.

Can you run system restore to place it before the worm was found?

Have you also checked for spyware if not, run updated scans ( Adaware and SPybot S&D are great utilities) its possible ur system may be still infected.Clean out the junk by running disk cleanup, this will free up some space too, if ur low on it (maybe CCleaner wud be a gud option) and then run chkdsk and defragment as its also possible ur drive is cluttered, and causing the slowdown.

I took advice and in the end did the following:

Run Anti-Virus again, used CleanUp40, then chkdsk, defrag. It still ran very slow until I removed the Panda anti-virus, I have heard of issues with the OS when using Panda before but not to this extent.

All is now good and I have installed AVG anti-virus and no speed issues.

Seems Panda was swallowing all of the performance and on a machine running a P4 that is very BADDD!
