D-Link DUB-H4 USB Drive problem

I have a external usb drive which was connected to my pc through the D-Link DUB-H4. Recently- and stupidly i was uncrewing the drive from its enclosure while it was still plugged in to the pc. Long story short i dropped the screw on the hard disk, and an error came up on windows stating there was a power surge on usb device.

The external drive is still working fine on another pc, and the same pc if connected directly to the usb2 card in the pc. If its connected through the DUB-H4 it is found but not assigned a letter. I have tried a previously working flash drive and also a usb mirco sdcard converter and again they are not assigned drive letters. A bluetooth dongle however works fine through the DUB-H4.

Any ideas for this problem?

Solved

Found the cause, turns out that a maped network drive took the next available drive letter, and windows decided not to use another one for any storage devices.

Changed the letter of the network drive and everything works hunky doory!
