Darik's Boot and Nuke Or Another Software?

I need to "nuke" a hard drive that has Windows XP on it so that I can install Windows 7 64 (yes, the computer will have 4 gigs of RAM) and pass it on. I have only needed DBAN once and that was a number of years ago.

I was wondering if this is still the go to software for this purpose or is there something else I should consider? Thanks.

I'm fairly certain installing Windows 7 (and formatting during installation) and then using CCleaner "Drive Wiper" to erase free space would be sufficient as well as redundant (w/ 1, 3, 7, and 35 pass option).

If there is sufficient reason to be paranoid, perhaps changing the hard drive would be the only option. I can say I don't know anyone that would have sufficient reason to be paranoid.

Thanks much! You saved me an unnecessary step. And as for paranoia I've got nothing to hide.
