  1. Is there such a thing as proxies that are superior to others? If so which ones?
This is most likely in the wrong section, but I wasn't sure where to put it xD

Well I'm really not sure, I am new to proxies and I guess I would use it here on my PC.

Well nothing in particular, but I guess I would like it mainly for privacy and such.

Let's review your setup; the wiring looks something like
A proxy would run on one of your systems and have a LAN address.
However, the ISP gives your modem a public IP address and that is used to get
all replies back to you; whether you have one or more systems, the public address is always 'visible'.

A proxy will not hide you or give you any greater degree of privacy.
The normal use of proxies is to
    • log traffic
    • filter incoming trasactions
    • to control the Internet access of LAN (or company) users
Your goal would be better served by googling the subject anonymous browsing
