    I accidentally deleted the icon in the quick launch bar which hides all active tasks and displays the desktop. Don't ask. It just happened. And now I want it back!
    It's the most useful icon.

    I guess the icon activates a script. Can anybody tell me what's in that script? I need that icon very badly. ;)

    WINDOWS-KEY+D does the same in case you can't get the icon back.

    If you have several users in your computer, go to
    C:\Documents and Settings\<not your user name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\ and copy the "Show Desktop" file to the same folder under your user.

    Or you can create the file yourself.
    Create a file called "Show Desktop.scf" containing the lines:
    [Shell]
    Command=2
    IconFile=explorer.exe,3
    [Taskbar]
    Command=ToggleDesktop
