Hello

I was wondering if someone could help me.

I Have an Inspiron 8200, I have tried the eeprom shorting method and get the fn-x screen then it goes back to the grey screen asking for the password.

If anybody can help me i would appreciate it.

My tag is 1q6lt11

any help is appreciated

Hi guys
I almost did it :)

1. I did International Transfer. Original owner info is NOT needed. They will ask for serial number to verify it's not a joke.
2. I called Dell Tech Support and they check that I'm the owner (after successful transfer). They told me I can buy "Bios reset service"
3. Service costs me sth around 40$ in Poland (not 50 pounds or 150$ as some ppl was trying to get from me here)
4. They gave me password, told to hit ctrl+enter 3 times, and so on

Besides, I don't know how, but I am Dell customer now :p

Only one problem is that I have password on HDD ;~(
and don't have more money :[ Arrrghh

Rustam, please ... Can you help
Hard-disk is #c12y3gs367e-595b

D400 passwords

Hi all

I have a D400 here from a good friend. Maybe I am too tired already but I donno how to get rid of the configure password. The password screen looks like this:

Primary PW: Disabled (gray - I can enter a new one)
Admin PW: Enabled (green - not editable)
Configure Setup: Disabled (gray - asks for config password)
Configure Password: Enabled (green - not editable)

I think I would need the config password to enable the config setup!?
Actually he got the laptop from his former employer and they dont give out company confidential passwords. How can I help him?
Would it be possible to set a Primary password and then remove all passwords at once with some Rustam master pw?

I would be very happy if you can help me out. I can't even enable wireless and set the time and date....

The service tag is 44KVR0J - 0 = zero

thanks in advance! mscrx

Need help

I bought a Dell Latitude D820 from Craigs list for my college bound daughter.
Yeah, you guessed it.....it's locked on the infamous gray screen.

After reading some past threads it seems there was a "rustam" who could help
unlock these dells. However, I haven't seen any new posts from him lately.

I found a website named "spun lock" that claims to be able to give me the password if I provide them the service code. Does anyone know if this is on the up & up. I would hate to waste more money as I've already acquired a very expensive doorstop as it is. I'm a single mom of three. Can't afford anymore mistakes. College tuition is killing me as it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

It does both. When you Change/Delete your Service Tag and then reset/verify it, Or set a different one, the EEProm Chip has to be erased. When you do this as part of the process, the Passwords stored there are also erased as a side benefit. I stumbled on this fact years ago on a machine on which I had set Passwords myself, but a previous owner had set a Service TAG with lower case letters, but which was otherwise valid and correct. So, I ran the software to delete and then reset the Tag. To my surprise, my passwords had to be reset afterwards.
It makes sense if you think about it. If you try to set a BIOS Password on a laptop that does not have a Service Tag in BIOS, you will not be able to do that. So if you delete the Service Tag, bye-bye Passwords.
All this only applies to BIOS Passwords, not the HDD Passwords. Also, while it will erase the Primary BIOS Password entered, you can not get through the grey screen to boot any drive. I hope this clarifies the subject for you.
As for the asset and owner's tags, asset.com is included in the files of this software.

Personally, I have tried CMOSPWD, Low Level Format, HDDerase, Debug, ATAPWD, ClearHDD, FJ Erase. None of them worked on an unknown Password.
I did clear a couple HDDs installed in the older -D35B machines using the Master PW V2.20 software; they must have been installed in those machines when the HDD Password was set. I tried it on another -D35B machine but the HDD password did not clear, probably because it was now in a different machine.
This firm can clear some HDDs by online connection, but no Hitachis. Their fees are nominal.
