I have a D400 here from a good friend. Maybe I am too tired already but I donno how to get rid of the configure password. The password screen looks like this:
Primary PW: Disabled (gray - I can enter a new one)
Admin PW: Enabled (green - not editable)
Configure Setup: Disabled (gray - asks for config password)
Configure Password: Enabled (green - not editable)
I think I would need the config password to enable the config setup!?
Actually he got the laptop from his former employer and they dont give out company confidential passwords. How can I help him?
Would it be possible to set a Primary password and then remove all passwords at once with some Rustam master pw?
I would be very happy if you can help me out. I can't even enable wireless and set the time and date....
The service tag is 44KVR0J - 0 = zero
thanks in advance! mscrx
It does both. When you Change/Delete your Service Tag and then reset/verify it, Or set a different one, the EEProm Chip has to be erased. When you do this as part of the process, the Passwords stored there are also erased as a side benefit. I stumbled on this fact years ago on a machine on which I had set Passwords myself, but a previous owner had set a Service TAG with lower case letters, but which was otherwise valid and correct. So, I ran the software to delete and then reset the Tag. To my surprise, my passwords had to be reset afterwards.mscrx said:I thought dst is for service, asset and owner tags but not to remove any passwords!?
thanks, mscrx

All this only applies to BIOS Passwords, not the HDD Passwords. Also, while it will erase the Primary BIOS Password entered, you can not get through the grey screen to boot any drive. I hope this clarifies the subject for you.
As for the asset and owner's tags, asset.com is included in the files of this software.
Personally, I have tried CMOSPWD, Low Level Format, HDDerase, Debug, ATAPWD, ClearHDD, FJ Erase. None of them worked on an unknown Password.emde said:Paragon33 do you know maybe any method for removing password from disk? Can low level format help?

This firm can clear some HDDs by online connection, but no Hitachis. Their fees are nominal.
