Chromebooks are becoming an increasingly popular choice for anyone looking to get a cheap laptop and a basic computing experience. So much so that apparently Dell is having trouble keeping up with demand for its Chromebook 11 and has decided to momentarily halt sales of the laptop.

The device is currently listed as unavailable on the company's website, which asks potential customers to contact a sales representative instead to find out how to order the laptop. According to Dell spokeswoman Ellen Murphy, the device "continues to be available for education customers."

The Chromebook 11 sports a 4th-generation Intel Celeron 2955U processor, 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 display, a 16GB SSD, and Intel integrated graphics. It comes in two versions: one has 2GB of RAM, and the other packs 4GB, while both support 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0. The laptop started shipping in December and is priced at around $300.

“We are working with our procurement and product teams to recover inventory and offer it for sale again on Dell.com in the coming weeks”, Dell said.

Chromebooks accounted for 35% of all US commercial laptop shipments to date this year, up more than 250% compared to the same period last year, and 5% to 6% of overall consumer laptop sales in the same period.

"This Chromebook sells so well that we will...stop selling it"?? /sarcasm
hmmm

In fact, this whole article is weird:

“We are working with our procurement and product teams to recover inventory and offer it for sale again on Dell.com in the coming weeks”, Dell said."

I wonder from whom they'll be "recovering" this inventory?

When I was looking into Chromebooks, I noticed that this one had the best reviews and got the most compliments and least complaints... this doesn't surprise me one bit!

I was never a google fan. after getting an android tablet and finding it 100% useless I picked up a chromebook. it's now the only thing I carry with me

Umm you know who makes the Chrome OS right?

Or are you saying you didn't like Google purely based on the Android Tablet experience but now like them because of the Chromebook. Sorry I just found the statement a little confusing.

This wouldn't work for me, but most of the people I know it would very well...

Yeah its not for me either and I also know quite a few people that this is perfectly suited for.

I meant I already had a google account with the android, it seemed everything google worked better on a chromebook. Even my geek buddies thought I jumped ship and went to the other side. But, they were very impressed that it was "instant on", you're there. nothing loading, no waiting. You can get a refurbished cheap on amazon or newegg.
I finally found a use for the android tablet: clocky. I now have an awesome clock

:p
