    thanks for the response but the problem is I'm unable to locate the chip on the board and therefore cannot even proceed with the shorting method to clear the password on the bios. plz help. Thank u

    dell inspiron e5105/6400

    Plz the model is dell inspiron e5105 (silvery color). i've completely dissembled it but cannot find the 24c eeprom chip both on and under the motherboard
    Plz i need some real help. I'm brainy but this is above me.

    in the full dellpass documentation it says:

    Inspiron 5100

    Chip = 24C164N
    Location = on the back side of the motherboard, close to the DRAM slots.
    Short circuit the 24c164 chip during booting

    not sure if 5160 or 5105 = 5100... but have a look yourself I think.
