Dell Laptop

Just got my dell back from a friend. When I log on Windows xp Pro it says it is disabled and to contact system administrator. Say user name and password are incorrect. Help please

Ask your friend what the hell they have done to your laptop.

And never ever lend your laptop to your friend again.

If you can`t find out what`s been changed, then maybe you will have to reformat.

Thanks for responding. I don't know how to get info from her anymore and my son set me up with the laptop to start with. How do you reformat it? I don't know much.

Perhaps you could have your son take a look at it for you.

Do you have the full Windows XP disc or is it just a recovery disk?

Boy do I feel stupid. No I don't have any of the stuff. All I got back was the laptop and the power cord. All the books and stuff didn't come back. Guess I was lucky to get that. And my son has moved away for work so I'm stuck. Can I buy the stuff somewhere? I don't want to be a problem but I do appreciate your help.

You could buy the Windows XP disc but it`s quite expensive.

If you do a Google search for windows xp pro you will be able to see the cost.

It might be an idea for you to take the laptop to a local pc repair shop.
