Digital Noise

a few times now I have heard my PC make very annoying, loud, sudden digital noise sounds when in the middle of playing music. Does this sound like software or hardware problems?

creative soundplaster X-fi Xtreme gamer
Agaeia physx card
nVidia GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB

Have you tried different drivers for the Creative SoundBlaster X-fi Xtreme gamer. I removed mine in favor of my on-board sound... It never performed right in my Vista machine. I was getting the pops and hisses randomly. The on-board sound works ok

I have the latest drivers and everything so It should work fine. I paid £50 for it so I refuse to use on board hardware.

Have you removed the Creative card and tried running with on-board sound just for a day or two...

I just installed this card in a Vista Machine over last weekend. It is awesome:

I really think there is nothing else you can do, but replace the card
