Dire need for Win98 help

Hi there....

Looking for some windows 98 gurus to help with this one.

I have the following problem.

Windows98 SE

Can set a default printer to a remote TCP/IP printer with no problem.
CANNOT set one to local LPT port or to another TCP/IP printer in same network.

Word pad and Note Pad say that there is "no default printer found".
MS Word will print to remote default but not to local LPT or this other TCP/IP printer.

Just where do I get this fix within Windows98. I do not want to re-format this system. Accounting System and far too many issues with it..


HELP !!!!!!!!!!!
