Disable the Integrated Graphics (After they have already died)

  1. I need to find out how to disable the Integrated Graphics on a HP Pavilion a705w Desktop PC. The integrated Graphics went out and I have a new PCI Graphics card to replace them with but I cant get the Bios to switch to the new card, because I cant see the bios to change the settings. Any suggestions? PLEASE Help! I have spent many hours talking to HPs online techs and they are obviously from another country and have no idea what I am talking about ( one guy I had to explain what Integrated meant).

Put your new card in, then boot to SAFE MODE, which should give you a basic low resolution screen. Then go to Start->Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager, then scroll down through the list until you get to the appropriate line for Display adapters. Right click on the Display adapter and you will be given an opportunity to disable.
Now install your new display drivers and you are mostly done if you follow exactly the instructions that come with the adapter.
