Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk And Press Enter

Hi I’m a college student working on a computer programming degree.
I join this tech forum because I want to learn more about computers especially programming, networking, and html so I can help my friends and my self.

Well I have a problem already; one of my friends told me if I could fix his computer so I told him sure ill se what I can do. So I took his tower home and turn on his computer and after I turn it on a black screen displaying a message” DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PREES ENTER ” To be honest I have no idea what that is as my background in hardware and networking is not that good. So please tell me if there is a solution with out erasing his hard drive because he has pictures of his family and homework on his hard drive that he never back up.

That means that the bios isn't detecting the hard drive.Have a look at the back of the hard drive and see if the data and power connectors are in properly, check the other end of the data cable in the mobo too!!!

i will check all cables and conetor of the hard drive. i would of never tough of that.
