Display problem with a Toshiba Satellite 5205 laptop

I have a 1 1/2 year old Toshiba Satellite 5205-S705 laptop and about two days ago my monitor pretty much failed. The screen is so dim you can only tell the lcd is actually on if you shine a light at it. I have been reading around and it seems many people are having this dim screen problem with toshiba laptops, but their screens died slowly, flickering on and off for several weeks before completly failing. My screen NEVER flickered or showed any other symptoms that many people seemed to experience. I just woke up one day and it stopped working.

I've tried opening up the case and making sure no wires came loose aswell as updating my bios, display drivers, and messing with my screen settings, but that hasn't worked.

I've read that some people have fixed their screens by replacing the fl inverter. Is there anyone out there with a 5205 model that has had this same problem and fixed it by replacing the inverter? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
