Hi everybody! Let me give you a semi-brief rundown of what's going on in my computer. Apologies for the length. So, about two weeks ago, I downloaded DaemonTools without paying much attention to the site I was downloading it from, and bam, I got some adware. It was called Trovi, and it hijacked my browser to set itself as my homepage and use bing as the search engine instead of google in chrome. Some other adware got tacked onto my computer as well, which I quickly deleted and uninstalled. My friend explained that there were steps to follow to get rid of it, but it would take a long time to do, and I wasn't really in a situation to take care of it then and there, so I put it off to take care of later. I ran MSE the next day, and then adwCleaner. Some days passed without incident, BUT THEN! There I am, browsing imgur, and I see an image I want to save as a possible wallpaper. I right click, click "save as," when suddenly, my computer crashes to a blue screen. Now, unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what the error message was, and I know that's not very helpful, but I think it may have mentioned something about the disk drives. Not entirely sure. This was 2-3 days ago? I restarted the computer in safe mode, no problem, then normally, no problem. I went about my computer business, shut it down for the night as usual, and went to sleep. When I booted up the next morning, my computer was doing some kind of scan on my disk drives that made me very nervous. Thankfully, it started up like normal, but I thought this was pretty weird. NOW. We come to the real, troubling issue. Yesterday, I decide I want to play Far Cry 3. I click play, and get this message: "C:\Windows\system32\D3DCOMPILER_43.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support." I tried to play Battlefield 3 and get a similar variation on the same message. After searching around a little bit, I gathered that this might be a DirectX issue, so I delete the files, run the enduser runtime, reinstall directx, etc., to no avail. Now, be aware that I don't get this error message with every game. So far, Battlefield and Far Cry are the only two that have this issue out of about three or four other games I've tried. I have a lot of games though, and haven't tried many others yet. The thing that really sketched me out though is that just today, I started my computer up, and got a similar type of error message regarding Java. That's the error message that really made me think I might have a serious problem. So far, here's what I have done in the past 24 hrs: 1. Full scan w/ Microsoft Security Essentials 2. Run Combofix 3. Run MalwareBytes 4. Run DDS I think AdwCleaner picked up Trovi, but I'm not sure where the log for that is. I will post the other logs in the comments for this thread. I had done a little google searching and saw someone with a similar problem to mine came here and Broni was able to solve his problem (http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/bad-image-error-when-anything-runs.160740/), so I figured you guys could be able to help. And thank you in advance, this is totally selfless work, and I just want to say that even if you can't fix my problem, y'all are truly serving the realm. Also, sorry for the length, I just wanted to try to be as thorough as possible! Help you, help me UPDATE: As I was writing this, I tried to run Far Cry after having just reinstalled it, and I got a different error message: farcry3_d3d11.exe - System Error "The program can't start because XINPUT1_3.DLL is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." It's not missing from my computer, it's there in my Windows/System32 files, except its not in all caps. Pretty sketchy.
