dma is not available

    my friends hard drive is in pio mode how do i get it to go into dma even though its set at dma if available in hardware profiles

    ??????

    please help is it a bios setting or jumper on hard drive ????//

    Do you have any info on what kind of machine your friend has? motherboard? bios? operating system? and what brand of hard drive is it?

    some bio's do allow setting DMA or Pio. some will automatically drop the hard drive into pio mode if there is a problem with the hard drive.

    its ok i sorted it. i uninstalled primery ide channel and when i re booted it was in dma setting.
