Do I need WMP 10 ? Only sound.. no video

  1. I have WMP 9 (updated & patched), OS is Win 98SE.

When playing a video disk (a mpg file), I get the following messages:

    'Locating Codec Server'

    'Error downloading codecs'

Then there is the error msg :

'One or more codecs required to open this content could not be found'

WMP doesn't hang or abort, but gives only the audio.

Can a uninstall & fresh install help ? Or do I need a higher ver of WMP ?

    Thanks in advance.

Actually T-Player is neat and free for sound only... Give you mixer features... Just google t-player click on the first link..

Thanks, tipstir. But my problem was video related.

On a lighter note, bud, try lifting the Andes with your little finger !
