hi,

i have a 20"LG monitor, and have a dvi adapter for it, if i was to use the adapter would i gain increased visual quality?, or do you need HD to take advantage of DVI technology.

thanks in advance!

If your video card has a DVI out connector and your monitor has a DVI in connector you will benefit greatly from using DVI. if you are adapting from a VGA output your monitor would be running in analog, not digital or DVI

I notice that text is a lot clearer when I use my DVI plug instead of the VGA one. It's because when you use the VGA for a LCD screen, the monitor signal has to be converted twice. It starts as digital, in the video card, then it's converted to analog, then back to digital again when it reaches the LCD. This causes a lot of degradation.
