Is it true that two sticks for dual channelling have to be identical to work properly, or can two sticks from even completely different manufacturers work? I've heard both, and I was hoping that you guys could help me out. Thanks!

 Hello & Welcome to TechSpot

As long as the sticks are indentical in specs and chip-placement (single or double sided (SS DS)) it shouldn't make any big difference, but if you try to mix SS sticks with DS and they have different timings, it will not work...

Personally I'd go with two chips from the same company, but I wouldn't splash out for the "matched" sets.
