Hi, i am rather desperate at the moment. my nc6000 has locked/frozen up. i have just installed O2 broadband and McAfee security. when the setup finished McAfee updated and so did microsoft autoupdates. once the updates were done they asked for the pc to be restarted when i did that i got a blue screen with DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL error and has froxen. nothing i have been doing, pressing power buttons disconnecting ac, but not the battery yet, is getting the pc to restart. the hp manuals also don't indicate a 'stupid, unnecessary' button called reset so i am a little FRUSTRATED. Any ideas on how to get this piece of aluminium to work would be appreciated.

What o/s are you using? Can you boot to safe mode and uninstall that stuff?

i managed to get the pc to restart after removing and replacing the battery. i then removed the McAfee application and it seems to be ok so far. thanks.

did you have another antivirus installed?

Why don't you try AVG free!

Yes, i had Norton installed at the same time. seems that the removal of McAfee is the trick as i haven't had that horrid blue screen again. thanks all of you

multiple installations of anti-virus programs can and will cause crashes.
