Could someone give suggestions on best distro to install on a G4 emac?
    Thanks for any replies.

I believe the G4 eMac is a PPC based machine, not an Intel.

Google for Bootcamp on Mac OS X

You shoudl be able to dual boot without problems. People do it, I just haven't so I don't have any specifics.

I do know that you aren't limited to Yellow Dog. I've personally had Ubuntu and Opensuse on my G3 B&W. Gentoo also works on PPC. There are lots of options you have.

There's plenty of PPC linuxes out there... Debian, Fedora Core, Mandrake, Gentoo, SuSe, Ubuntu and more... All of which are very popular flavors of Linux at the moment.

Unfortunately - as time passes - PPC will go the way of the dodo. This is a result of PPC's hardware being EOL.
